Brookfield Global Integrated Solutions is pleased to announce its fourth annual An Inspired Future event to be held Wednesday January 20, 2016 at the Sheraton Parkway Toronto North Hotel & Suites. An Inspired Future engages industry professionals on sustainable and restorative business practices in corporate real estate. This event focuses on inspiring leaders to make changes that will ultimately affect the future of our planet by significantly reducing their companies’ environmental footprints. An Inspired Future offers business professionals the opportunity to learn, network and engage with many of Canada’s industry leaders.

Keynote Speaker: Jeremy Rifkin

On April 1st, 2014, Rifkin published his latest book,The Zero Marginal Cost Society: The Internet of Things, the Collaborative Commons, and the Eclipse of Capitalism, in which Rifkin describes how the emerging Internet of Things is speeding us to an era of nearly free goods and services, precipitating the meteoric rise of a global Collaborative Commons and the eclipse of capitalism.  Rifkin’s vision of a sustainable, post carbon economic era has been endorsed by the European Union and the United Nations and embraced by world leaders including Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany, President François Hollande of France, and Premier Li Keqiang of China. Jeremy Rifkin will provide attendees with an update on the deployment of his 5 Pillar Third Industrial Revolution Strategy from regions around the world. Rifkin will share lessons learned and offer ideas for innovative opportunities for the public and private sectors to work together to create economic prosperity while minimizing environmental impacts.


Guest Speaker: Hon Glen R. Murray, Minister of the Environment and Climate Change

gmurrayGlen Murray has a lifetime of activism in urban planning, sustainable development and community health. He was the Senior Resident and Visiting Fellow at the Faculty of Architecture and Landscape Design at Massey College, University of Toronto and worked on the Development of the University’s City Centre. He was a Managing Partner of  AuthentiCITY, a Toronto based Urban Sustainability consulting and planning firm. Murray was appointed President and CEO of the Canadian Urban Institute in 2007 and led the development of award winning programs in community energy mapping & planning, regional economic development and culture lead regeneration of urban centres. Murray was appointed by the Prime Minister of Canada to Chair the National Round Table on the Environment and the Economy (NRTEE), where he helped to shape environmental policy and respond to climate change in Canada. Glen Murray will share his vision for moving Ontario into the low carbon era and th economic benefits that are projected from implementing some of the key initiatives contained within his strategy.
